OVER £18,000 has been raised by a group of Rugby fund-raisers who escorted Father Christmas around town during December.
Rugby Rokeby Lions Clubs hitched up Santa’s Sleigh and visited neighbourhoods and villages around Rugby – collecting over £18,500 for local good causes and people in need.
Rugby Rokeby Lions President Mark Grimmett said the Sleigh is hard work but great fun and enjoyed by all.
He added: “A full club effort together with other volunteer organisations expended around 720 hours to make the events happen. The people of Rugby and the surrounding villages responded magnificently.
“I would like to thank the people who so generously supported our various collections over the festive period.”
