Pupils raise hundreds for Air Ambulance

Rugby Editorial 23rd Jan, 2019   0

BUSY fund-raising pupils at Crescent School have presented over £730 to the Air Ambulance Service.

The children have been raising money for the national Children’s Air Ambulance since the beginning of the school year by holding a ‘name the teddy’ competition, a yellow Air Ambulance non-uniform day and a Christmas jumper day, and by organising collections in school and at the school’s Carol Service.

Air Ambulance doctor Caroline Leech came to the school to receive the funds and speak to pupils about the Air Ambulance Service and the work of the national Children’s Air Ambulance.

Dr Leech, who also works as an A&E doctor at the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire, showed the children three key life-saving skills – how to read a radial pulse, check pupil reactivity and use a pulse oximeter to check a person’s heart rate and blood oxygen levels.

Thanking the children, Dr Leech said: “This money will help buy specialist medical equipment and support running costs.”
