A DRUNK driver who crashed his car twice in one night used his mobile phone as a headlight.

At 5am on Saturday (March 16), police received a report of a car hitting a fence and a vehicle in Coton Meadows and trying to drive away despite heavy damage, having lost the front bumper in an earlier crash.

It was also reported the driver and passenger were holding their phones out of the windows to use their torches as headlights due to the damage.

The driver, a 26-year-old man from Coventry, was arrested after providing a positive breath test. He was also arrested on suspicion of disqualified driving.

Posting on social media, a Warwickshire Police Operational Patrol Unit spokesperson said: “En route to custody, we found the front bumper of the vehicle on top of Junction 1 of the M6, so it’s still a mystery where the first collision actually was!”
