Man arrested after dead sheep found in back of car

A DEAD sheep was discovered in the back of a car in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday April 16).

Police found the dead animal while investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle in Rugby just after 4am.

A 21 year old man from Rugby was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty, driving while unfit through drink or drugs, possession of an offensive weapon, and assault on police.

He was also arrested on suspicion of a burglary following an incident in Harborough Magna overnight.




The vehicle and sheep were recovered for further examination, and officers are in contact with the Department of Food and Rural Affairs to establish who the sheep belongs to.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who saw a suspicious vehicle in the Harborough Magna area on the night of April 15-16 to contact them on 101 asking for PS Craig Griffiths on extension 3886. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
