Hospice's volunteer gardeners praised

Rugby Editorial 17th Apr, 2019   0

SPRING is rewarding the efforts of volunteer gardeners at The Myton Hospices’ Rugby Day Hospice.

Volunteer gardeners Margaret Beards and Pam Mawby have been working tirelessly over the winter to maintain the hospice’s gardens – which help patients’ relaxation and mental well-being.

With plants, flowers and trees flourishing in the spring weather, keen gardener Mayor Tom Mahoney visited the hospice to see the gardens coming into bloom.

Rugby Day Hospice Sister Camilla Lines said it was a pleasure to welcome Coun Mahoney.

She added: “All of our volunteers are invaluable. Margaret and Pam are here most days tending to the gardens. They have a genuine passion for keeping the gardens looking beautiful for patients.

“They both also volunteer in the Day Hospice. Margaret is a volunteer driver and Pam volunteers on reception when there is holiday cover needed.

“Both of them are truly amazing and an inspiration to us all.”
