MATHS skills have added up to success for students at Avon Valley School following their participation in a national Maths challenge.
Nine students from Year 11 were awarded certificates by the UK Mathematics Trust for passing its annual challenge for students across the country.
They included Jamie Saunders and Greg Miliopoulos, who won gold awards and will now progress to the next round of the competition where they will be up against high achievers from across the country.
In addition to his gold certificate, Jamie also received a ‘Best in School’ certificate.
Faculty leader for maths Debbie Tyas said: “We are always proud of the effort shown by our students in their maths lessons and we’re delighted to have this opportunity for our students to shine.
“Jamie and Greg have done exceptionally well to reach the next round, and I wish them luck.”
Head teacher Alison Davies said: “I’d like to say a big well done to the students who took part and congratulations to those who received a certificate. This is a very busy time of year for our Year 11 students and this achievement is something they can be very proud of.”
