Gearing up for Rugby Festival of Culture

Rugby Editorial 30th May, 2019   0

CULTURE vultures in Rugby are set for a summer feast.

A free colour guide, highlighting the three-week programme of music, stage, comedy, film, heritage and art planned for this year’s Rugby Festival of Culture is now available.

The ninth annual festival, supported by Rugby First and Rugby Borough Council, runs from June 23 to July 14, and among the highlights will be musical quartet Stringfever, comedians Alun Cochrane, Zoe Lyons, and Laura Lexx, and a performance of Wuthering Heights at Caldecott Park.

The festival will also incorporate Rugby School’s Festival on the Close, a celebration of arts and education.

Borough spokeswoman Coun Jill Simpson-Vince said: “This year’s Festival of Culture programme features a host of well-known acts while also promoting the best of Rugby’s homegrown talent.

“From comedy to classical music, open air theatre to poetry recitals, the festival offers residents the opportunity to experience the best of arts and culture while also attracting visitors to Rugby from further afield.”

The guide is available online at www.therugbytown.co.uk/festivalofculture, or can be picked up from Rugby Visitor Centre and town centre businesses.
