SCIENCE and engineering came to life with a bang when over 650 primary school children joined pupils at Harris Church of England Academy for a lively annual event.
The Big Bang returned to the Academy for the second year running to introduce youngsters to the world of ‘STEAM’ – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths – through a range of interactive activities, workshops and shows.
They included an onsite planetarium, an Aston Martin car, robots, bikes, an Enigma Machine from Bletchley Park, engaging exhibits, an Atomic Science show, and a textile workshop from Great British Sewing Bee winner Heather Jacks.
Long Itchington CE Academy teacher Sarah Baghdadi said: “The afternoon was jam-packed with so many activities for the children to engage with. The students at Harris were calm and helpful and the event was a great success. We wished we could have stayed longer.”
A Northlands Primary School pupil added: “I thought it was really good because I like science and I was able to see some amazing things in action.”
Harris head teacher Roberta Harrison said: “It was great to see all aspects of STEAM represented. Students of all ages were actively engaged and we were delighted to welcome pupils from local primary schools to Harris.
“Thank you to all companies and ambassadors who helped to make this event a huge success.”
