CUDDLY recruits have joined crew members at Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Volunteers from knitting group Ball of Yarn have created Trauma Teddies to help comfort distressed children in an emergency.

Warwickshire County Council safety spokesman Coun Andy Crump said: “I am thrilled that the service is welcoming back trauma teddies and I want to say a big thank you to Ball of Yarn for making them for us.

“The teddies will be riding with our crews as they attend incidents and are a fantastic way to help lessen the impact of the trauma experienced by children at emergency incidents. Our crews understand how upsetting and scary these experiences can be. Now they will be able to offer some small comfort in the form of a teddy.”

Ball of Yarn meets every Monday at Rugby Library from 10am to noon.
