BOROUGH made it three wins from three in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division, after a 5-1 rout of Thurnby Rangers at Kilsby Lane.
A Josh Turton hat-trick added to goals from Mike Ellis and Tommy Glasscoe, ensuring the winning start continues, with the only blemish being a late strike from Jake Shingler to tarnish Rugby’s clean sheet.
Ellis set the ball rolling with a headed finish after 15 minutes, before Turton hit a quickfire double in the second half to put Borough in firm control.
Glasscoe smashed home from a loose ball following Aiden Print’s excellent cross – who again was involved in the build-up for Turton’s hat-trick goal.
Elsewhere, Borough Women lost out 4-1 in their Birmingham County League Division One opener against Coleshill Town.
In a match that did not go without incident, Borough lost their goalkeeper Beth Daly, adding to an already depleted line-up, so it was no surprise when the hosts went in two goals down at the break.
Borough initially regained a foothold in the tie when Megan Board finished after excellent build-up play by Katie Anderton.
But despite makeshift keeper Megan Evans’ heroics, Coleshill added two more to claim a resounding win.
Rugby’s men’s first team next visit Aylesbury Valley Dynamos in the FA Vase on Saturday (3pm), while Borough Women host Birmingham Medsoc on Sunday (2pm).
