Nearly 15,000 jobs supported by coronavirus job retention scheme in Rugby

Rugby Editorial 17th Aug, 2020   0

NEARLY 15,000 jobs have been supported by the coronavirus job retention scheme throughout Rugby and Bulkington.

An additional £8.7million has been provided to self-employed workers through the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme and local businesses have benefitted from £16.5 million worth of grants.

This includes bringing forward infrastructure projects which will include £2million to support the Caldecott Square regeneration scheme.

MP Mark Pawsey said: “This year has been hugely challenging for people and businesses in Rugby and Bulkington and no one could have forseen the impact which coronavirus has had on us all. However government has stepped up and these latest figures demonstrate the scale of support which has been put in place to support lives and protect livelihoods.

“Now we must turn our attention to restarting our economy and I have no doubt government will continue to support people in our local community. Schemes such as the hugely popular Eat Out to Help Out are already proving a huge success at getting customers back into local businesses.”
