RUGBY and East Warwickshire Ladies’ Firsts slipped to their first defeat of the Midlands Women’s Premier season at the fourth attempt, after going down 3-0 away to Stourport.
It was tough loss for the Ladies, with Katie Woolliscroft’s strong defensive effort earning her the player-of-the-match award
The Seconds held on for a 3-2 win at home to Nuneaton 1sts in Midlands Division Three South East while the Thirds drew 1-1 with Loughborough Carillon 1sts in Division Four Nene/Charnwood, thanks to a well-worked team equaliser finished by Nadine Bell.
A typical sliding deflection from Chris Graham was Rugby Men’s Firsts’ sole reply as they went down 4-1 to Nottingham University 2nds in Midlands Men’s Premier Division. Man of the match was Andrew Walker at left back.
Will Antrobus capitalised on a rare opportunity to score in Rugby 2nds’ 8-1 defeat to visitors Repton in Midlands Division Two whilst Lee Marriott earned the man-of-the-match award.
It was a game of missed opportunities for Rugby Thirds in a 5-2 loss to North Notts 1sts in Division Four East. Alex Salter scored a penalty corner but missed a penalty stroke whilst Calum Mackay scored Rugby’s second. Man of the match was Charlie Morrison.
David Odwell earned himself a hat-trick as Rugby Men’s Fourths swept aside Khalsa Leamington 4ths 9-3. There were two goals for man of the match Roman Lofthouse and a goal apiece for Richard Cook, David Manning, Kiran Clark and Jimmy Royle to seal the convincing win.
Nick Taylor was man of the match in the Fourths’ 4-1 loss to Hampton 3rds while the Sixths were on the receiving end of an 8-0 scoreline against Leicester City 1sts and Loughborough Carillon sent the Sevenths to a 6-0 loss.
