A SUSPECTED drug dealer has been arrested after officers stopped a car in Rugby yesterday (Monday November 22).

Plain clothed detectives from Rugby Proactive CID stopped a VW Golf, which they suspected was involved in a drug deal, in Borrowdale.

A search was carried out resulting in the seizure of crack cocaine, cash and a mobile phone.

A 43-year-old man from Rugby was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs.

The man was also wanted on two outstanding warrants for failure to appear at court. He was detained to be put before the court for these offences while he remains under investigation for the alleged drug offence.

Det Const Tom Quinlan from Rugby Proactive CID said: “I hope the local community is pleased to see us taking positive action to remove drugs from the streets.

“The impact of drugs on communities cannot be underestimated and we are determined to be proactive in tackling the problem and the associated criminality.

“If you suspect people of drug dealing then please don’t hesitate to contact us. We act on all information and it helps us to carry out warrants, arrest suspects, seize drugs and make our communities safer.”

Anyone with information about this investigation or drug dealing in general can report it by calling police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
