RUGBY Borough celebrated their promotion party in style with a 6-2 thrashing of Blaby and Whetstone having already wrapped up the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division title.
And Borough treated the large crowd of 781 spectators to a goal fest at Kilsby Lane as Josh Thompson headed home inside the opening 60 seconds to hand Rugby the lead.
Dale Linton quickly added his side’s second goal before Charlie Whiteside slotted home and Ryan Palmer’s superb strike from distance sent the hosts into the break with a four-nil lead.
And the second half continued in the same vein when Thompson added to his tally with an exquisite chip before Linton completed the rout with Blaby pulling back two consolation goals.
Rugby are next in action away at Highfield Rangers on Saturday, April 23 with kick-off at 3pm at Gleneagles Avenue.
