Nine out of ten Warwickshire Reception and Primary children to be offered first choice of school

Rugby Editorial 19th Apr, 2022   0

NINE out of ten Warwickshire children starting school this year will be offered their first choice of school today (Tuesday April 19).

Of the nearly 6,600 Warwickshire children applying for a Reception place who submitted their application on time, 90 per cent have been offered a place at their first-choice school – and a further seven per cent have been offered a place at either their second or third choice school.

Nearly 1,300 children in the county applied for a Junior school place – and 97 per cent of them have been offered a place at their first-choice school, while one per cent were offered their second or third choice school.

Every applicant who applied on time has been offered a place at a school.

Today is National Offer Day, when children from across the country learn which school they will join in September. Applicants who applied online will receive an email, or can check their online parent portal. Letters to those who applied by post have been posted.

Warwickshire County Council leader Coun Izzi Seccombe said: “Starting school for the first time, or moving into Junior School, are such exciting moments for the parents and carers as well as the children themselves. We’re delighted that so many children have secured places at their first-choice school and wish them many happy years of learning in Warwickshire schools.”

Parents and carers who have an offer of a school place must respond to their offer by Tuesday May 3.

Visit www.warwickshire.gov.uk/receptionandjunioroffers for details on how to accept or decline the offer of a school place.
