Rugby Free Secondary School staff congratulate students on GCSE results

PROUD staff at Rugby Free Secondary School (RFSS) have congratulated students on their GCSE results.

GCSE results at the school – which opened in 2016 – show an improvement on last year’s Teacher Assessed Grades.

In their first year of traditional examinations at RFSS, 65 per cent of subjects achieved results above the 2019 national average.

High Prior Attainers, EAL students and SEND students all performed well and were able to move on to their next stage of study.

Headteacher Samirah Roberts said: “We are really proud of the results that our Year 11 students have achieved.

“Everyone is aware of the national challenges that this year group has faced, as they have been the year group impacted most severely by the pandemic. To achieve these results shows excellent collaboration, with students and parents/carers working extremely hard with us to make this happen.

“None of this could have been achieved without the staff body at RFSS. Staff have worked during their holidays, after school and even during some weekends to make this happen. Both I and our students appreciate the incredible sacrifices they have made.

“As a consequence of these results, we look forward to welcoming large numbers of students to our Sixth Form, many of whom are coming from other schools; we are looking forward to working with them from September.”
