THE BANK Holiday weekend finished on a high note thanks to Rugby’s talented musicians.

The Rugby Music Festival drew crowds to Caldecott Park on Bank Holiday Monday.

Hosted by Rotary in Rugby, the event shone a spotlight on the region’s new and established talent from an open-air stage in the popular park.

Acts performing throughout the day included the toe-tapping Ben Holder Jazz Quartet, singer-songwriter Becki Morgan, Rugby’s Got Talent winner Ezza Brianna and runner-up Aaron Evans, a Meatloaf tribute from Simon Coates and Amie Boyd, rock-a-billy from Just Rene, and stalwart Rugby band Duke’s Jetty.

The event was sponsored by the developers at Houlton, the new neighbourhood taking shape on the old radio mast site to the east of Rugby.

Kyle Smith from Houlton master developers Urban&Civic said: “With live music suffering a devastating setback in the last couple of years due to pandemic restrictions, it was more important than ever this year that Houlton was able to throw its support behind the cause and bring the event back.

“It’s always so important to us that we support local talent and business, and this event is a great example of the magic that can be created when the two come together.”

All proceeds from the event went to local good causes supported by Rotary in Rugby.
