WILLOUGHBY CC’s first and second XI’s both advanced to the semi-finals of their respective KO Cup competitions.

The club’s first-team progressed to the last four of the Division 7 Cup after opponents Rushton failed to show up for the fixture at The Green.

Despite Willoughby players being all set to play, Rushton did not believe the competition was running this year and therefore forfeited the match.

Willoughby will play Mears Ashby, the team they pipped to promotion, in the semi-finals.

And Willoughby’s second XI also progressed to the semi-finals of the Division 13 KO Cup with a four-wicket win in a low-scoring affair against Bugbrooke 3rds.

Willoughby quickly reduced Bugbrooke to 31-6 as Fergus Deery (5-16) ripped through the top order whilst Ryan Lines (1-12) also chipped in with a wicket.

Only David Matthewman (31) and Rikash Patel (16 not out), in at eight and nine respectively, reached doubled figures and helped Bugbrooke finish on 71 all out as Matthew Sutton (2-0) wrapped up the innings.

And Willoughby also struggled with the bat on a poor and difficult wicket as Bugbrooke skipper James Culverhouse (5-9) restricted the home side to 30-6.

However, James Andrews (21 not out) and Ryan Perry (15 not out) guided Willoughby to a four-wicket victory.

Willoughby’s 2nds will play Bold Dragoon’s 2nd XI in the semi-finals.
