Creative seven-year-old wins MP's Christmas card competition with bold design

A BOLD design by a creative seven-year-old school pupil has taken pride of place on the Christmas card sent out by Rugby’s MP this year.

Valeria Wilkinson from Rugby Free Primary School won Mark Pawsey’s 2022 Christmas card competition – and her colourful candle design has been sent out to charities, organisations and businesses throughout his Rugby and Bulkington constituency.

Valeria’s winning design.

Valeria and her family will be invited to visit Parliament alongside Mr Pawsey in the New Year, when they will be taken on a guided tour of the Palace of Westminster and take Tea on the Terrace.

The runners up this year were Amelia Dunphey, six, from Boughton Leigh Infant School, Tudor Negoita, eight, from Bilton Junior School, and Stanley Vernon, six, from Eastlands Primary School. Their designs are featured on the inside of Mark’s card.

Mr Pawsey said: “Even after 12 years of organising my Christmas card competition, I was once again impressed to receive so many designs from children in Rugby and Bulkington.

“As ever, picking a winner from the impressive designs was really tricky. Valeria’s bold use of colour and festive candle design was really striking as a traditional design.

“I want to thank everyone who entered and wish everyone in Rugby and Bulkington a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”

All entries to the competition will be displayed at Rugby Library in the run up to Christmas.
