Green-fingered Warwickshire residents invited to learn about benefits of home composting

GREEN-fingered Warwickshire residents are invited to find out how to reduce waste and improve the quality of their gardens by finding out more about home composting.

A series of face-to-face home composting sessions organised by Warwickshire County Council (WCC) will take place in the county over the next two months.

Attendees can find out how home composting can reduce waste, save money, and improve soil health.

They will also receive practical advice on how to set up and maintain a compost bin – and will be able to buy a 330-litre bin for a discounted £5.

WCC Strategic Director for Resources Rob Powell said: “Home composting is a simple yet effective way for residents to reduce their environmental impact and improve the health of their gardens. We hope these sessions will encourage more people to take up composting and make a positive difference in their communities.”

The sessions are open to all Warwickshire residents, and attendance is free of charge with no need to book a place.

Sessions will be held at Rugby Library and Information Centre on April 18, Stratford District Council Offices on May 3, Lillington Library and Information Centre on May 18, and Kenilworth Library and Information Centre on May 22.

Kenilworth Library will also host a free Paper Pot Making Workshop on Monday (March 27), where attendees can learn how to make paper pots for seed sewing or transplanting seedlings.
