Funds available to help Lutterworth area with health and wellbeing projects - and to celebrate Coronation

FUNDS to help communities in the Lutterworth area with health and wellbeing projects – and to celebrate the Coronation – are up for grabs.

Harborough District Council has allocated £20,000 to support community projects across the district in recognition of the Coronation of King Charles III in May.

The Coronation Community Grant Scheme will support local voluntary and not for profit organisations with projects that enable better health and wellbeing.

Examples of projects that could be funded include sport equipment, warm spaces, initiatives to maintain or increase greenery in the local area, and community gardens.

Communities can also apply for grants to participate in one of the official Coronation events including The Coronation Big Lunch on May 7 – which will encourage communities celebrate their connections and get to know each other better – or the The Big Help Out on May 8, an opportunity to showcase the impact of volunteering in communities.

The council’s Wellbeing, Communities and Housing spokesman Coun Simon Whelband said: “I hope the scheme will enable our communities to mark and be part of this significant national event.

“This funding could support a Coronation Big Lunch to help people to meet and socialise with each other, or an initiative which will have a legacy of improvements to people’s health.”

Organisations that apply must have a charitable or community goal and be constituted. The scheme can contribute towards specific or standalone projects – not towards core running costs or salaries.

Grants of up to £500 can be awarded. Awards will be made on a first come first served basis and accepted throughout the year until the fund has run out.
