RUGBY Town eased to their first pre-season victory with an impressive 3-0 win against higher division Southern League Premier Central side Leamington.
Valley took the lead through Jordan Wilson’s early strike before David Kolodynski and trialist Karabo Motshweni completed the scoring in the second half at Butlin Road.
Leamington’s relegation from the National League North last season, coupled with Valley’s promotion, means there is now just one division between the two Warwickshire sides.
Valley were without a host of first team players including Keenah Rosser, Alex Lock, Ryan Sahota and Dan Summerfield who were all on holiday while Kyle Burke and Edwin Ahenkorah were missing through injury.
That meant Town handed Tom Fielding his first appearance of pre-season while trialist midfielder Rico Taylor also featured.
Striker Wilson opened his pre-season account on nine minutes with a well-taken finish after neat build-up play between Kolodynski and Fielding.
And the club’s record goalscorer Kolodynski doubled Rugby’s lead on 53 minutes with a superb curling effort from the edge of the penalty area.
The scoring was complete in stoppage time as trialist substitute Motshweni drilled a fine effort into the net from 20-yards out.
