RUGBY Town are out of the FA Cup at the first round qualifying stage following a 2-0 home defeat against step three side Barwell.
Goals in either half from Brady Hickey and Beck-Ray Enoru proved enough to end Valley’s FA Cup run at Butlin Road.
After an uneventful first half, Barwell took the lead on 42 minutes courtesy of Hickey’s downward header from Thomas Cursons’ cross.
And the visitors sealed the win early in the second period when Enoru fired home a loose ball after Rugby goalkeeper Matt Hill made a fine initial save.
Valley went closest to halving the deficit on 71 minutes when substitute Jordan Wilson shot into the arms of Barwell stopper Harry Griffiths.
Rugby are next in action at home to Grantham Town on Saturday, September 9 in the FA Trophy with kick-off at 3pm at Butlin Road.
