WARWICKSHIRE is getting a share of funding to protect and improve bus services.
The county’s council is set to receive a share of £10.5million that the government has allocated to six West Midlands authorities.
Warwickshire County Council (WCC) says it will use the funds to protect and improve the area’s bus networks up to 2025.
The council’s cabinet has approved a list of priorities to improve bus services, including simplifying tickets and payments, bus priority measures on roads, more flexible services, and financial support for bus operators.
WCC’s transport spokesman Coun Jan Matecki said: “We recognise that work has to be done to improve bus services across the board if we are to encourage more of our residents to commit to the modal shift of using our fantastic network of buses.
“We are confident that the increased funding and our robust plans for Warwickshire’s buses are a positive leap in that direction.”
