TIM Fenemore, from Rugby, claimed double gold in the final international race of the 2023 offshore coastal rowing season in Trieste, Italy.

Fenemore won gold in the 55-plus quad event alongside Rick Rouille (Jersey) and Andrea Pareschi, Alberto Millo and Sergio Predonzani (all Italy).

Rowing together for the first time, the crew took an early lead and took gold ahead of two other boats in 27 minutes over the 6km course.

And Fenemore also won gold in the solo 55-plus category, recovering from a slow start to take his second gold medal of the weekend, finishing just seven seconds behind the lead boat in the 45 to 54 age category.

The final international race of the season saw rowers from Austria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Malta, Slovenia and the United Kingdom converge in Trieste which provided an iconic backdrop.

Fenemore finishes the 2023 season having won gold in the British, Swiss and Welsh Championships.

The 60-year-old now hopes to build on his excellent season in 2024 with his crewmates from the Coastal Barbarians Rowing Club supported by Hollowell Scullers and Draycote Water Sailing Club where he trains.
