A PUBLIC building in Rugby has opened a new cafe run by a local business owner.
Rugby Art Gallery and Museum is playing host to Pickle & Pie, the venue’s new eatery.
Business owner Lisa Styles has brought Pickle & Pie @ The Gallery & Museum to the venue after co-founding Pickle & Pie At 23, the cafe and delicatessen which opened in Crick in 2020.
The new cafe sells savouries and sweet treats, including homemade pies, quiches, sausage rolls, sandwiches, cakes and scones.
Lisa said: “I’m very excited to be part of something new at the art gallery and museum.
“I’m also looking forward to working closely with the art gallery and museum team to support upcoming events at the venue.”
Mayor Simon Ward was the first customer to visit the cafe to wish Lisa and her team the best of luck.
And his predecessor Coun Maggie O’Rourke, now Rugby Borough Council’s (RBC) spokeswoman for partnerships and wellbeing, said she was delighted a new cafe had opened at the Little Elborow Street venue.
She said: “Lisa has built quite a reputation through her success at Pickle & Pie in Crick, and news of her latest venture opening at the art gallery and museum has already caused quite a stir on social media.
“It promises to be a real asset, not just for the Art Gallery and Museum, but the town centre as a whole.”
Coun Neil Sandison, RBC’s Liberal Democrat spokesman for partnerships and wellbeing, also popped into the cafe to wish Lisa and her team well.
He added: “This is a welcome addition to Rugby Art Gallery and Museum and we hope the public enjoys the cafe.”
