A BUSINESSWOMAN from Rugby has become a bigwig of the hair and beauty industry.
Louise Fordham, the owner of Rugby E Hairdressing, has been appointed to the board of directors at the National Hair and Beauty Federation (NHBF).
She and her husband opened their salon in September 2000, initially as an Essensuals franchise until, in 2019, they transitioned to an independent salon.
The NHBF commended her focus on creating a positive work environment and nurturing her staff – adding that her company’s ‘innovative’ John Lewis Partnership-like model, which allows team Members choosing their own hours, aligned with its mission to support hair and beauty businesses in being safe, legal and profitable.
The federation added that Louise’s community-focused approach – the salon supports local charities, and Louise sits on the town growth committee – brought ‘valuable insights’ to the NHBF Board.
Before entering the hair and beauty industry, Louise worked as an insurance underwriter. She later completed a foundation degree in Leadership and Management. She has served as a governor for a local apprenticeship provider and a trustee of the local theatre, and is currently a Member of the board of Rugby First, the town centre management company.
Louise said: “Through my role at the NHBF, I will be a passionate advocate for best practices that encourage creativity and diversity within our industry.
“In our salon, we get to make people happy every single day, and that’s why it’s such a great world to be part of.”
NHBF Chief Executive Caroline Larissey welcomed Louise to the board, adding: “We are thrilled to have Louise join our board of directors.
“Her wealth of experience as a salon owner and her deep involvement in her local community will be invaluable to the NHBF.
“With Louise on board, we look forward to furthering our mission to provide everything hair and beauty businesses need to be safe, legal, and profitable, and enhancing the support we offer to our members.”
