EV charging expanded at Rugby's motorway services

ELECTRIC vehicle charging at Rugby’s motorway service station has expanded.

The Electric Super Hub at Moto Rugby has been upgraded to provide 24 Gridserve High Power charging bays, doubling the number available at the site off junction one of the M6.

The new High Power charging bays are powered by 100 per cent net zero carbon energy, including power generated by the company’s hybrid solar and battery farms.

The upgraded site has CCS connectors, accepts contactless payment and provides real-time status updates to a number of EV charging maps.

Moto Rugby is also now available on the Gridserve charging app, where users can find, navigate and pay for charging in one place.

Moto Hospitality’s Chief Executive, Ken McMeikan, said: “The expansion of High Power charging bays at our flagship Rugby site will provide a significant boost for EV drivers travelling on the M6 by helping to reduce range anxiety.”

Roy Williamson, Interim CEO and Executive Chairman, said: “Moto Rugby is a hugely popular site so we are thrilled to upgrade the location to 24 High Power charging bays.”

Before the end of the year, a further 12 Gridserve high power charging bays will be added at the site, which was named England’s most popular public charging location in a Zap-Map survey 18 months ago.
