BRIGHT pupils at a Rugby primary school lit up their classrooms by wearing yellow to support World Mental Health Day.

Bilton Junior School pupils collected donations for mental health charity Young Minds’ ‘Hello Yellow’ campaign.

Children at Bilton C of E Junior School came into school even brighter than usual to support mental health charity Young Minds’ ‘Hello Yellow’ campaign.

Young wellbeing ambassadors at the school led an assembly to encourage their fellow pupils to better navigate life’s challenges by talking about mental health, reinforcing the message that it matters to everyone.

Evie from Year 3 said: “I am proud to be a wellbeing ambassador. The role encourages us to open up and talk, and show others how to share their worries. It’s good to be part of that.”

Autumn from Year 6 added: “We have a worry box in school which is important for our mental health as our problems are helped by Mrs Smith and her dog Pickle.“

And Isaiah from Year 4 said: “We have Mood Bears in school and they came to visit. They are great at helping us to express our emotions.”

Head of School Rebecca Ross said staff were incredibly proud of how the children ‘said yes to yellow’.

She added: “We have been impressed by the flourish of colour that we have seen around the school.

“We are passionate supporting the emotional resilience of our children as part of their development with us. The way they have embraced this idea is testament to how important it is to them too.

“It was a wonderful opportunity to show how to important understanding mental wellbeing is to each and every one of us.”

Bilton Junior’s sister schools also joined in on the day, with little ones at Bilton Infant School also proudly wearing yellow, and kids at Bawnmore Infant School creating yellow themed artwork.
