RUGBY Borough Women geared up for their huge FA Cup tie with a 1-1 draw against league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers.
A goal from Angelina Nixon on the stroke of half time put Borough ahead only for Beth Merrick’s stunner to draw the visitors level at Kilsby Lane.
The result means Rugby sit fifth in the Northern Premier Division table, eight points behind new leaders Nottingham Forest.
Borough broke the deadlock moments before the interval when Nixon’s whipped effort towards the back post found the net via the aid of a deflection off a Wolves defender.
However, Wolves equalised on 75 minutes as Merrick fired a half-volley into the top corner to level the game.
Rugby Borough Women are next in action against Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday, February 9 with kick-off at 12.30pm at Kilsby Lane.
