POET and broadcaster Lemn Sissy will be sharing the love in Rugby next week.
An Evening with Lemn Sissay, part of the Love Rugby Festival running from June 20 to July 6, takes place at Rugby Baptist Church on Friday June 27 at 7pm.
The evening, organised and hosted by Hunt’s Bookshop, will encompass a journey through Sissay’s life and work, reflecting on the experiences that shaped him – from growing up in the care system to becoming Chancellor of the University of Manchester, and being royally honoured by both The Queen and The King.
He was also the official poet of the 2012 London Olympics, has worked with the British Council, and is a patron of the Letterbox Club, supporting children in care.
Christopher Hunt, owner of Hunt’s Bookshop, said: “Expect powerful readings, raw truth, and moments of unexpected happiness.”
