Venue to travel back in time for A Night at Your Museum

A TIME portal opens at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum next month for a Night at Your Museum.

The venue’s annual celebration on Friday October 10 takes on a historical theme, from dinosaurs and Romans to Vikings and Victorians.

Vistors can get up close to giant but gentle dinosaurs, or step into the past via a Victorian magic mirror photobooth, before dressing up and striking a pose for the camera.

Young Vikings can test aim and accuracy in the inflatable axe throwing arena, and budding Robin Hoods can aim for the bullseye with a bow and arrow at the archery range.

Visitors can transform into Roman gladiators or emperors courtesy of historic re-enactment specialists Guarderobe, and roll up for Dan the Hat’s Victorian Circus, where Dan performs magical tricks and youngsters of all ages can explore a treasure trove of Victorian toys and games.

Tom the Tale Teller entertains time travellers in need of a break, spinning tales from the distant past which take audiences to ancient lands to meet legendary heroes.

Visitors seeking a pause from the time portal can meet Far Out Faces face painting and be transformed into historical figures, while a Night at Your Museum also has a neolithic-inspired relaxed room, featuring tactile play and ambient lighting to mimic the glow of a campfire.

Coun Maggie O’Rourke, Rugby Borough Council’s portfolio holder for partnerships and wellbeing, said: “A Night at Your Museum has been a firm favourite with visitors for many years and we’re looking forward to hosting another fantastic event at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum.

“The ‘portal through time’ promises to take visitors on a magical journey through history, with plenty of activities and attractions on offer for all the family.”

A Night at Your Museum starts at 5.30pm on Friday October 10. Admission can be booked for 5.30pm, 6.30pm or 7.30pm, with places priced £4 per person, or free for under twos.
