From The Jam celebrate anniversary of The Gift at Leamington Assembly

Rugby Editorial 12th Oct, 2017   0

FROM the Jam are heading back to Leamington Assembly on November 30.

The group, featuring original Jam bassist Bruce Foxton, together with singer and guitarist Russell Hastings and drummer Mike Randon, will be celebrating 35 years since the release of The Gift, The Jam’s sixth and final album.

Released in 1982, The Gift was The Jam’s final studio album and rocketed straight to the top of the charts. It featured the likes of classic number one single Town Called Malice, Precious, Just Who Is The 5 O’Clock Hero, Ghosts, Happy Together and the Foxton-penned instrumental Circus.

The day after the Leamington gig – the final date on their latest tour – From the Jam will be releasing a live album.

‘From The Jam Live!’ has been an album a long time coming. Over the past ten years they have toured relentlessly, having played almost 200 headline shows in the UK alone since their inception in 2007.

During the past decade they’ve gained a reputation for the kind of incendiary live performances that have gone down well with original and new fans of The Jam alike.

The album features songs – Down In Tube The Station At Midnight, Going Underground, and The Eton Rifles among them – performed at various venues across the UK.

Bruce said: “We often reflect on our most memorable shows and the new live album will encapsulate these, illustrating the very best of the band’s live performance, where the band and crowd were at one with each other, creating an exhilarating power packed set that still echoes around these venues to this day.”

Like Bruce’s previous album Back In The Room’ (2012), the album was crowd-funded through Pledge Music, with a campaign in which fans could purchase items such as handwritten lyrics, signed CDs, LPs, artwork, etc.
