Armonico Consort tune up for The Unlocked Festival

Rugby Editorial 13th Jul, 2020   0

ARMONICO Consort is waving goodbye to lockdown with a three-day online festival.

The Unlocked Festival, running from July 15 to 17, will feature live recorded concerts, interviews, singing workshops, musical recollections, a virtual choir and more, all delivered free via the Warwick-based choir and instrumental ensemble’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

Among the highlights, wine expert Oz Clarke joins singers, instrumentalists and artistic director Christopher Monks, for a performance of Oz & Armonico Drink to Music (Part 1 of 4). It is the second in a brand new concert series of socially-distanced performances filmed at The Court House in Warwick..

Members of The King’s Singers are Christopher Monks’ latest guests in the Crafty Beer interview series, and violinist Salomé Rateau shares her recollections and plays Spring from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons with Armonico’s baroque musicians in Unlocking Baroque Memories.

There is also a massed virtual choir performing a special version of the Beach Boys’ classic God Only Knows. The track was recorded live at The Court House, by musicians using baroque instruments.

The festival also includes a final live Sing ‘n’ Shine children’s singing session with Patrick Stockbridge, a Sing with Simon workshop for older people and another chance to see the first of the new live, recorded concerts, Dido and Aeneas.
