HUMAN rights issues will be on the agenda during an online hustings event for Rugby parliamentary candidates.
The Daventry and Rugby Amnesty International Group has invited all candidates standing in both towns in the July 4 election to take part in the online event.
A spokesperson said: “Following the sudden announcement of a general election on Thursday July 4, we are inviting all the declared candidates in both Daventry and Rugby constituencies to attend our next meeting.
“We shall be asking them all the same questions about human rights and Amnesty issues. We shall give them advance notification of what we shall ask them about.
“Our group is very active, with regular speakers. We met recently with other Amnesty supporters at Southam College, whose students had invited Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, who had been imprisoned in Iran, and her husband, to explain what they had experienced.”
The group has invited residents to suggest questions for the candidates by emailing [email protected].
The event takes place via Zoom on Monday (June 10) at 7.30pm. Visit https://tinyurl.com/25e4ewue using the meeting ID 817 9639 8897 and passcode 435194.
