Gazebo donation helps Rubbish Friends clean up

A GAZEBO has been donated to help community group Rubbish Friends keep Southam’s streets clean.

Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey Midlands donated a personalised gazebo to the litter-picking group, which will be used to provide a meeting place for their monthly events. It will also act as a base for handing out equipment to members.

The volunteers dedicate their spare time to keeping Southam clear of rubbish for the benefit of the residents, visitors and wildlife.

The group organises litter-picking events which not only aim to tidy-up of the environment but bring the community closer together. Previously, Taylor Wimpey donated 70 personalised hi-vis vests to keep the group safe and seen during the darker months when out on their litter picks.

Friends member Fran Howell said: “As a community group, we rely on donations, sponsorships and grants to get the equipment we need to continue our effort in keeping the community clean.

“We are all incredibly thankful to Taylor Wimpey for their thoughtful donation of the gazebo. It is a welcome addition to our kit and will help our team greatly.”

Taylor Wimpey spokesman Ben Walker said: “We are committed to giving something back to the communities in which we build through donations such as this one to Rubbish Friends Southam.

“Monthly litter picks are a brilliant way to build community spirit and keep the local environment clean. The group does such fantastic work and we were delighted to be able to support such a good cause again.”
