INFECTION control at Warwick Myton Hospice has been handed a £30,000 boost.

The grant has been awarded by charity the Wolfson Foundation and the money will be used to replace the 14-year-old floor at the inpatient unit.

It will also fund urgent repairs to the roof above the unit.

Hospice chief executive Ruth Freeman said: “We are ever grateful to the Wolfson Foundation for this amazing grant to enable us to carry out such vital work at our Warwick IPU and protect everyone associated with Myton from infection at this crucial time.

“The pandemic has further underlined the importance of hygiene and infection prevention and control in essential healthcare setting such as hospices.

“Thanks to the grant we can move forward safe in the knowledge we are doing everything we can to protect our patients and their families, our staff, our volunteers and our visitors. A huge thank you to the Foundation on behalf of everyone at The Myton Hospices.”

Wolfson Foundation chief executive Paul Ramsbottom added: “The pandemic has been hugely challenging for hospices – and we admire the way in which Myton has continued to deliver outstanding care and to raise funds despite those challenges. We are delighted to be supporting Myton with this award.”
