Myton Hospice chairty shops receive screens donation

Rugby Editorial 6th Jul, 2020   0

MYTON Hospice charity shops have received a welcome addition to the usual run of donations.

The charity, which is preparing to re-open all its shops, has been provided with custom-made plastic partition screens sited at till counters at each of its 27 town centre shops across Coventry and Warwickshire.

The social distancing barrier to protect both customers and staff is the same thickness as a normal pane of glass, but 30 times stronger.

The screens have been specially produced by the Coventry-based online stockholding service theplasticshop.co.uk and are essential in enabling the shops to re-open after lockdown

Charlotte Ingram, Myton’s director of income generation, said: “The safety of our staff and volunteers, and members of the public visiting our shops is our priority and we are delighted that theplasticshopco.uk has generously provided screens for all of our shops, to help ensure we are keeping everyone safe, whilst enabling us to raise vital funds.

“With our shops aiming to bring in over £2million of the £9.2million we need to raise each year, the loss of retail income has been felt keenly over the last three months, any additional support really does make a big difference. We are very grateful and want to say a massive thank you.”

Theplasticshop.co.uk has been an active supporter of The Myton Hospices charity over the past three years. In addition to regularly providing marshalling at outdoor fund-raising events, the online company’s managing director Andy Cole was part of a team that generated over £70,000 through a sponsored climb of Kilimanjaro last September.

Andy said: “The Myton Hospices is a much-loved and vital local treasure to which we’re always happy to lend a helping hand whenever we can.

“As the shops contribute almost a quarter of their funds they needed to be safely up and running as fast as possible once lockdown was lifted. It’s been an especial pleasure to support the way in which they’re able to serve the local community by drawing directly on our own particular expertise.”
