A NEIGHBOURHOOD in Rugby has a Post Office again – over three years after it closed down.
Woodlands Post Office was officially opened by Keith Tilley, Chair of the Woodlands Residents Association, at its previous location in Cymbeline Way – inside the Premier convenience store.
The branch closed in August 2016 due to the retirement of the Postmaster and the withdrawal of the premises for Post Office use.
Mr Tilley said: “After three years without a Post Office, Jay Chandrakumar at the Premier shop – through his perseverance and determination – has got it reinstated.
“On behalf of all residents, I’d like to thank and congratulate Jay for getting back an amenity that has been sorely missed.
“I call on all residents to ensure they use it in order to not lose it.”
Mat Wilkes, Post Office Change Manager, said: “We are delighted to be able to restore a Post Office to this area and we hope that customers will continue to use the service.”
Post Office services – including banking – are available at a serving point alongside the retail counter.
Opening hours are longer than before – 6am-10pm Monday to Saturday, and 7am-10pm on Sunday.
