AWARD-WINNING journalist and best-selling author Robert Beasley has joined Leamington-based public relations agency Newsline PR.

Newsline, which has clients across the UK ranging from major vet practices to European pallet manufacturers, has moved to bolster its team after a string of new business wins during 2017.

Managing director Peter Robinson is confident the addition of the former chief sports correspondent for The Sun will stand his team in good stead as it aims to build on its recent success.

Mr Robinson said: “We’re delighted Rob’s signed with us. We’re a team on the up, with big ambitions, and this shows our intent to build on the strong skill-sets we already have.

“The agency has achieved considerable growth over the past 12 months and we are now very much a national player.

“Rob brings with him a wealth of writing experience and an impressive contacts book. We pride ourselves on delivering the very best written word for our clients – on whatever platform that may be – and I’m certain we’re going to continue to achieve great things with Rob on board.”

Rob spent the past 30 years on Fleet Street writing for The Sun, News of the World and Press Association, during which time he interviewed sporting superstars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Sir Steve Redgrave and Frank Lampard.

As well as top jobs at Britain’s leading national newspapers, Rob, who is from Warwickshire, has also recently published the acclaimed book ‘Jose Mourinho Up Close and Personal’ to rave reviews.

He said: “It’s a fantastic new opportunity for me and I’m really looking forward to working with Peter and the Newsline team.

“They are a very talented, creative and ambitious group and I’m excited to join them and make my contribution towards realising their big plans for the future.

“I’m sure I will thrive in such a positive, focused and friendly environment.”

Newsline, formed more than 40 years ago by chairman Nigel Robinson, offers a full spectrum of public relations, social media campaigns, digital and design services, video filming, media training and event management.
