Race for Two Castles Run ballot ready for the off

Rugby Editorial 23rd Jan, 2018   0

THE BALLOT for this year’s annual Two Castles run between Warwick and Kenilworth open at midday on Thursday February 1 with 4,000 places up for grabs.

Organisers Kenilworth Rotary Club introduced the ballot system for the first time last year and it proved a great success.

This year one person can register others in a team or group and the ballot will close at a minute to midnight on February 14.

Registration will be via the FullonSport website and will be drawn on March 1, with successful runners being notified by email. “Those who are unsuccessful will automatically be added to the waiting list” said race organiser and Rotarian Philip Southwell. “As last year, to enhance the safety of the runners, the entire route will be closed to traffic.”

The Two Castles Run is one of the main events in the Warwickshire Road Race League and will be run on Sunday June 10.

Leamington law firm Blythe Liggins will again be the headline sponsor of the popular event for the 13th consecutive year, along with fielding a team of runners and a water station.

Richard Thornton, joint senior partner, said: “The Two Castles run is an excellent event and we are delighted to be supporting it once again. The move to a ballot system, which is obviously used so successfully with major events such as the London Marathon, has proved to be a much fairer way to ensure registration for the thousands who wish to take part in this increasingly popular run.”

Visit www.fullonsport.com from noon on February 1 to register for the ballot.
