Police were called shortly before 10.30pm on Thursday May 28 to a report of a disturbance involving a number of people in Lower Leam Street near the junction with Leam Terrace. When they arrived they found a Coventry man with a stab wound to his chest. Despite efforts to treat him at the scene he later died in hospital.

Three men were arrested over the weekend on suspicion of murder. The trio, aged aged 21, 22 and 26 and all from Birmingham, have all now been released on bail.

A 34-year-old woman from Birmingham arrested on Friday has also been bailed.

And a 27-year-old man arrested at the same time as the woman on suspicion of murder has been released with no further action to be taken.

A post mortem and formal identification are yet to take place. A growing number of floral tributes and photographs to ‘Marbles’ and ‘Dad’ have been left at the Leam Terrace street sign off Willes Road.

Det Ch Insp Caroline Corfield, from Warwickshire Police Major Investigation Unit, said: “We’re continuing to investigate this tragic incident and are following a number of lines of enquiry.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has provided information so far, this has proved invaluable in helping us piece together what happened and identify a number of suspects.

“We believe there may still be further witnesses who have not yet spoken to police and in particular, we would like to speak to anyone who may have seen or have dashcam footage of a white BMW 320 car (60 plate), a grey Vauxhall Astra (55 plate) or a blue Ford Fiesta (14 or 15 plate) in Leamington or Birmingham on Thursday evening.

“We are making positive progress with the investigation but I would appeal to anyone who may still have any information, irrespective of how insignificant it may seem, to please come forward.

“I appreciate how shocking this incident has been for the community and I’d like to reassure local people we are working tirelessly to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.”
