THE ASSEMBLY in Leamington is set to reopen under new management.
The Spencer Street venue shut its doors in June with MJR Group – which previously ran the building – citing financial difficulties due to the rents and rates of the Grade 2 listed property.
But now the music venue has new owners and is opening its doors for a launch party on Saturday September 28.
A spokesman said: “The iconic Assembly Leamington is back…. re-focused, re-freshed, re-booted.
“Under new ownership the famous family owned building is ready to create new memories.”
It is understood the venue will be providing event, corporate and hospitality space.
Previously big name acts including Lou Reed, Public Enemy, The Stranglers, New York Dolls and Patti Smith have played The Assembly.
The art-deco building was the subject of a multi-million pound redevelopment designed by Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen.
The 1,000 capacity venue won the highly coveted Music Week Award for Best Live Music Venue in 2010 after winning the award for Best Live Entertainment Venue at the 2009 Godiva Awards.
Built in 1926, the venue was originally named The Bath Assembly Hall. Its art-deco interior was originally the setting for balls and dances. It was later named The Palais de Danse.
