A ROCK gig billed as the town’s biggest ever is set to raise the roof of the World Cup Fanzone this autumn.

Up-and-coming alternative rockers Mallory Knox and festival veterans We Are The Ocean will play in the 1,000-capacity temporary building as part of the Enjoy Rugby Festival.

Fresh from a main stage performance at Download Festival at the legendary Donington Park, Mallory Knox have announced the show as part of their homecoming tour in September and October.

The band, who blend elements of post-hardcore and indie rock, will perform songs from their recent top 15 album Asymmetry.

Vocalist Mikey Chapman said: “We have been lucky enough to head overseas a lot this year and play to loads of new people, but we really cannot wait to get back to the UK and play our biggest headline run yet. There really is no place like home.”

Essex-based four-piece punk-pop four-piece We Are The Ocean have achieved top five placings in the Rock and Indie charts with their four albums.

Their last, 2012’s Maybe Today, Maybe Tomorrow, demonstrated a bold, beefed-up new sound, and its imminent follow-up Ark will see the one-time post-hardcore outfit heading ever further into the unknown.

Support will come from local alt-rock band Go Primitive, who combine big riffs, powerful grooves, catchy vocal lines and sing along choruses into a melodic style of rock with plenty of attitude.

They will play material from their forthcoming new EP, produced by Romesh Dodangoda (Funeral For A Friend, The Blackout, Kids In Glass Houses).

The show takes place at the Rugby Village, which will be built at the Old Marketplace off Railway Terrace, on Thursday September 24.
