Sob story scammers flagging down drivers on Warwickshire's roads

Rugby Editorial 20th Feb, 2020 Updated: 20th Feb, 2020   0

SCAMMERS have been flagging down cars in Warwickshire under the pretence of an emergency.

A man in Henley was reported urging passing drivers to give him cash because his baby needed medical help. He offered to sell them jewellery in return.

Police said the offer of cheap jewellery for cash was a well known scam.

Reports of a similar incident in Lapworth involved a man waving down cars for cash. He told drivers he needed to buy fuel to get to Luton.

Officers believed it was a similar scam to that in Henley although did not say whether they were related.

Anybody with information should call police on 101.
