A WHODUNIT written by the Queen of Crime opens at Rugby Theatre on Saturday (March 9).

The Henry Street venue will stage Murder on the Nile – a twisty thriller set aboard a paddle steamer in 1937, and one of Agatha Christie’s most critically-acclaimed mysteries.

Director Senga Veasey said: “There are few theatre experiences better than a brilliantly-written murder mystery, and this is one of the very best.

“It’s full of tension and excitement, and builds to a shocking and audacious climax.

“I’m so happy to be able to direct this wonderful play in our 70th anniversary year. It’s a treat for us all to be able to get our teeth into a play with so many wonderfully drawn characters and such a cleverly constructed plot.”

There’s no Poirot in this telling of the story – the sleuth in the drama is Cannon Pennefather, played by Steve Crump in Rugby Theatre’s production.

“We’re so looking forward to opening night,” added Senga. “Everyone has worked so hard, both the cast and the brilliant backstage team.”

Murder on the Nile opens for a seven performance run on Saturday (March 9). Visit www.rugbytheatre.co.uk or call 01788 541234 for tickets.
