AN AWARD-winning musical is coming to the stage at Rugby College this week.

Students are staging the school edition of Les Misérables, the musical based on Victor Hugo’s 1862 classic novel, at the college’s Platform Theatre.

The story set in 19th Century France, follows prisoner Jean Valjean as he breaks parole to establish a new life for himself, while evading the clutches of Inspector Javert.

The musical features many well-known songs such as On My Own, One Day More, Empty Chairs at Empty Tables and I Dreamed a Dream.

Hayley Glover, Course Leader for Performing Arts, said: “The cast and crew of Les Misérables have been working so hard in readiness for show, it’s going to be an incredible spectacle and a fulfilling experience for everyone involved.”

Matthew Geddes, who stars as Jean Valjean, said: “Playing Jean Valjean has been an incredible experience, we’ve worked so hard as a team to put together this show in such a short time.”

The show runs from Tuesday December 11 until Friday December 14. Tickets costing £7.50 each (£5 concessions) are available at www.wcg.ac.uk/lesmiserables or on the door.
