THE CARDUCCI String Quartet and Ensemble Molière bring the curtain down on Leamington Music’s Winter Season.

The Carducci Quartet, playing at Leamington’s Pump Rooms on Friday March 15, will perform a programme featuring Haydn’s Quartet in D Op 20 No 4 ‘Sun’, Ravel’s Quartet in F, and Mendelssohn’s Quartet in F minor Op 80.

Ensemble Molière, performing at St Mary’s Church in Warwick on Tuesday March 19,

were selected as the first ever BBC Radio 3 New Generation Baroque Ensemble in 2021, in partnership with BBC Radio 3, the National Centre for Early Music and the Royal College of Music.

They will finish the season at the Court of the Sun King, Louis XIV, with their new programme – The King’s Playlist – a soundtrack of music written by French Baroque composers such as Charpentier, Lully, Delalande, and Marais, and dedicated to every moment of the King’s Day.

Leamington Music artistic director Helen Beecroft said: “We are so pleased to have the Carducci Quartet back at the Royal Pump Rooms as they are great favourites with our audience and never fail to delight.

“And it is always wonderful to have the opportunity to feature emerging artists in our series and be among the first to champion them – Ensemble Molière’s programme actually forms the playlist of their debut CD on Linn records which is due for release on March 22, but you will have heard it here in Warwick first.”

Both groups will arrive earlier in the day to give special concerts in local schools as part of the Leamington Music Education Programme, which is dedicated to bringing live music of the highest quality to children and planting the seeds of the joy of this experience for generations to come.
