Daring dads to make dancing debuts alongside kids at Rugby Theatre

Rugby Editorial 5th Dec, 2018   0

DARING dads are making their dancing debuts on stage with their talented children in a show at Rugby Theatre.

The trio will perform with their little stars in Kalendarium, Christine Anderson’s Theatre School’s (CATS) song-and-dance show based around the months of the year, which opens at the Henry Street venue for a four show run tomorrow (Thursday, December 6).

Proud parents Gary Rowe, Kevin Starkey and Alexander Ademokun will step out with their children Vivienne, nine, George, eight, and Isabelle, seven, in a special Fathers’ Day dance to celebrate the month of June.

CATS choreographer Jo Walker said: “None of the dads had ever danced before, but they have been so willing to learn, and I couldn’t be happier with the result of their efforts.

“It’s been quite something to see them performing with their children – emotional and really touching.”

The show features around 100 performers aged between three and 18 singing and dancing their way through a production featuring songs from The Greatest Showman, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the Polar Express among others.

CATS Principal Christine Anderson, who founded the school more than 40 years ago, said: “They’ve been rehearsing for months, and I’m so pleased with how it’s all come together.

“It’s going to be an amazing show.”
