THE ANNUAL double header by Ensemble 360 at Leamington’s Spa Centre takes place on Sunday March 10.
This year’s Family Concert – The Chimpanzees of Happytown – tells the story of Chutney the Chimp and his attempts to bring happiness wherever he goes. This will be performed at 11.30am with Lucy Drever narrator and nine members of Ensemble 360.
Illustrations from the bestselling book by Giles Andreae and Guy Parker-Rees will again be projected on to a big screen behind the performers, who will also demonstrate their instruments for the younger members of the audience.
And it is now an annual tradition for Ensemble 360 to follow the morning Family Concert with a large-scale afternoon chamber music concert with all eleven group members.
This year’s concert will feature Brahms’s first Serenade, Martinů’s Nonet, and Dohnányi’s Sextet.
Leamington Music artistic director Helen Beecroft said: “These Family Concerts offer a really good opportunity for parents and grandparents to bring the young into a concert hall, to experience musicians playing at the highest level and to plant the seeds for them to enjoy concert-going for all their lives.”
